The Health and Safety Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental operations within the organization. This position ensures that health and safety initiatives are strategically aligned with business goals, regulatory compliance, and industry standards. The manager will lead safety programs, mitigate risks, and foster a proactive safety culture across the site. This role also involves managing EHS performance data, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring that employees at all levels are engaged in the commitment to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of the organization’s health, safety, and environmental programs, aligning them with both local and corporate objectives.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards and critical safety risks within operations.
- Develop and track safety performance metrics, including both leading and lagging indicators, to ensure alignment with organizational safety goals.
- Collaborate with leadership teams to establish site-specific safety goals and integrate EHS initiatives into daily operations.
- Provide leadership and direction for the EHS team and ensure effective training programs are in place to meet all regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Implement and track the progress of corrective actions and ensure compliance with safety action items across the site.
- Maintain and improve the site’s health and safety certifications and work towards third-party recognition for safety excellence.
- Ensure safety programs are continuously updated to meet evolving regulations and best practices in the industry.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are preferred.

- Proficient in utilizing enterprise-wide systems to track and report EHS data and performance metrics.
- Capable of demonstrating leadership and decisiveness when addressing conflicting priorities or interests.
- Experience leading and supporting cross-functional EHS teams.
- Prior experience or education focusing on environmental, health, and safety program management and employee training.
- Bilingual skills (especially in Spanish) are desirable.
