Senior Network Engineer

Hybrid schedule in Tulsa Oklahoma

12 Month contract (Potential for extension of Conversion)

Our Client is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer to do the following

Upgrade Cisco iOS :

• Perform iOS upgrades on Cisco 9500, 9200, 2960, and 3850 edge switches as part of the planned maintenance schedule.
• Collaborate with other network teams to verify and ensure the compatibility of the new iOS versions with existing hardware and configurations.

Planning and Execution :

• Assist in planning and scheduling of iOS upgrade activities, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
• Conduct pre-upgrade checks and ensure that backup configurations and software images are in place before starting the upgrade process.
• Execute the upgrade process, applying necessary patches and updates in accordance with internal procedures.

Troubleshooting and Post-Upgrade Support :

• Identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise during or after the iOS upgrade.
• Provide ongoing monitoring of upgraded systems to ensure stability and proper operation.
• Work with relevant teams to resolve any issues that arise post-upgrade.

Documentation and Reporting :

• Maintain detailed documentation of the upgrade process, including configurations, troubleshooting steps, and issues encountered.
• Provide regular updates and reports to management and relevant teams regarding the status of the upgrades.

Collaboration and Communication :

• Coordinate with other network and IT teams to ensure alignment of upgrades with overall network strategies and goals.
• Provide guidance and support to junior NOC engineers and staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and process adherence.

Continuous Improvement :

• Stay updated with the latest Cisco iOS releases and best practices for upgrades and configuration management.
• Contribute to process improvements and the optimization of the upgrade workflow.

Qualifications :

• Proven experience with Cisco switches (9500, 9200, 2960, 3850) and Cisco IOS operating systems.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing concepts.
• Hands-on experience in upgrading Cisco IOS on enterprise-grade network equipment.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and systems for tracking device performance and status.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve network-related issues quickly.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills :

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification.
• Experience with network automation and scripting tools.
• Familiarity with change management processes in large-scale enterprise environments.
