The role:
The Satellite Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing satellite systems and subsystems. This role involves working on all phases of satellite lifecycle, from concept and design through testing and deployment, ensuring that systems meet performance, reliability, and mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Develop satellite systems, including payloads, bus systems, and ground components, ensuring compliance with mission requirements.
- Integration & Testing: Lead hardware and software integration efforts, including rigorous testing to validate system functionality and reliability.
- Requirements Analysis: Define and analyze performance, interface, and operational requirements, ensuring alignment with mission goals.
- Project Management: Oversee satellite development projects, focusing on schedules, resource allocation, and mitigating risks.
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on guidance and resolve complex system challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed system designs, testing procedures, and performance reports while ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless system integration and deployment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in satellite systems engineering, including hands-on design and integration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with tools like MATLAB or STK, and expertise in subsystems like communications, propulsion, and power systems.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage engineering projects, including scheduling and resource management.
- Analytical Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities for resolving complex technical issues.
- Communication: Skilled in technical documentation and cross-team collaboration.
- Security Clearance: Eligibility for Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s) in a related field.
- 6+ years in mission-critical or high-precision satellite systems.
- Expertise in payload design, ground systems, or advanced integration techniques.
- Relevant certifications such as SEP or CSEP.
- Proven history of innovative problem-solving in satellite engineering.
