Job Description

Akkodis is seeking a Plant Operator for a contract job with a client in Durham, New Hampshire, United States.


Rate Range: $33/hour to $37.50/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities :


  • Understands and complies with all State and Federal OSHA safety regulations, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, etc.
  • Adheres to the site Safety Program.
  • Follows the direction of the Lead Operator on Shift.
  • Interfaces with vendors and clients in matters of plant equipment, repairs, and test procedures.
  • Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for planned maintenance, unplanned maintenance, and repairs.
  • Utilizes the Fuel Management System, including all required testing and reporting.
  • Is familiar with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Title V Operating Permit, and all ancillary aspects, including testing and reporting.
  • Assists with service work performed by vendor personnel and others.
  • Monitors Plant SCADA for Safe and Efficient Plant Operation.
  • Periodically checks installed equipment for proper operation and calibration.
  • Develops knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain installed equipment.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting, repair, and operation of plant equipment and machinery.
  • Must be familiar with, and remain familiar with, all aspects of the company's safety and environmental policies and practices. Must adopt work practices, which are consistent with the letter and spirit of these policies and participate to the fullest degree in programs aimed at increasing personal safety and environmental awareness.
  • Performance of additional duties or projects as assigned for career development i.e. safety training, equipment training, and special projects, as requested by the client and I or the Plant Manager.
  • Continues to develop knowledge of plant operations and the skills required to succeed in the position of Lead Plant Operator.
  • Maintain Log Readings and Plant Events.


Qualifications:


  • Must have a detailed understanding of Combined Heat and Power and Central Utility Plants, including startup, operations, and maintenance of all installed equipment.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent comparable technical education, and/or five
  • years of documented work-related experience.
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills, a thorough understanding of installed machinery and equipment, and the ability to recommend and make necessary repairs.
  • Must be able to perform testing utilizing precision instruments.
  • Must be able to interpret system schematic diagrams and be able to troubleshoot systems and equipment utilizing them.
  • Must be able to work in a power plant environment, located on a university campus.
