Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect/Data Engineering Lead to oversee and guide our data architecture and data modeling initiatives within a healthcare environment, specifically focusing on patient and prescription data. In this role, you will be responsible for structuring and organizing data as it flows into Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring robust and scalable data solutions. You will lead a small team of 6-7 professionals, including data engineers, DBAs, and Power BI specialists, providing strategic direction and hands-on support as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architecture & Modeling : Develop and manage data architecture, specifically using SSAS and Azure Synapse, to support healthcare data such as patient records, prescriptions, and provider information.
  • Data Integration & Organization : Lead efforts in organizing data as it enters Synapse, ensuring it is structured and accessible for analysis and reporting.
  • Team Leadership : Oversee and guide a team of DBAs, Power BI specialists, and data engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Technical Strategy : Define and implement best practices for data management within Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with internal stakeholders to align data initiatives with business needs, especially around patient data compliance and healthcare standards.
  • Mentorship : Provide coaching and guidance to team members, especially as you bridge gaps in technical expertise among those who are less experienced with advanced data systems.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in data architecture and data modeling, especially with SSAS and Azure Synapse.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Azure’s data services.
  • Background in healthcare or experience managing sensitive patient data is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, managing and mentoring teams of 6-7 individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a smaller, collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in data governance and compliance within healthcare.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, data engineering practices, and database management best practices.
