ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary to produce and distribute monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP and the organization’s accounting policies. • Ensures general accounting, payroll, procurement and contracting procedures are in accordance with evolving regulations, legal requirements, industry trends and organizational policies. • Manages the preparation and annual filing of 990 tax returns and Cost Reports. • Oversees the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. • Coordinates the year-end closing activities and annual external audit. • Develops financial models & proformas for new business ventures. • Maintains internal controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. • Facilitates team meetings and the continuous development and education of the general accounting, accounts payable, payroll services, and procurement and contracting staff. • Oversees the continuous development and maintenance of written procedures for all areas of responsibility. • Ensures vendors and ancillary providers are providing quality, costeffective products and services. • Maintains a good working relationship with the Director of Revenue Cycle. • Establishes and maintains effective business relationships with vendors, ancillary providers, independent auditors and regulators, professional trade groups and other hospices. • Manages banking and investment activities for operating and investment accounts. • Serves as a resource to the Management Team and staff in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer. • Serves as a secondary liaison to the Audit and Finance Committees of the Board of Directors, including attendance at, and preparation of information for their meetings. • Performs identified back-up functions for assigned Team Leaders and staff. • Completes special assignments/projects as assigned. MANAGEMENT • Recruits, orients, trains, evaluates and monitors the on-the-job performance of assigned team leaders and staff. • Serves as a resource to the Management Team and staff in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERTISE AND KNOWLEDGE • High School Diploma or equivalent • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance • Five (5) years’ experience in accounting, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, and contract negotiations • Five (5) years’ managerial or supervisory experience • Three to five years’ experience in the health care field is preferred • CPA certificate preferred • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook • Must be detail oriented and be able to work in fast pace environment • Must demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills • Flexible to work both independently and in a team environment DIRECTOR OF FINANCE SUMMARY: Responsible for the planning, directing, coordinating and managing the day-to-day operational functions of the general accounting, accounts payable, payroll services, financial analytics and procurement & contracting areas of the Financial Services Team.
