Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to oversee and manage onsite construction activities for concrete, underground utilities, paving, and heavy civil construction projects. The role involves coordinating with subcontractors, tracking progress, managing project schedules, and ensuring quality and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong multitasking skills, and be flexible to work evenings and weekends when required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors and project resources.
• Liaise between field operations and central accounting for accurate job costing and timekeeping.
• Collaborate with project superintendents to track material needs and create short-term schedules.
• Track field measurements and quantities for progress payments.
• Prepare and submit daily reports, including extra work and timecards.
• Attend project meetings to maintain effective communication with clients and project stakeholders.
• Ensure a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety regulations.
• Process submittals, RFIs, and staking requests.
• Develop traffic control plans and manage lane closure schedules.
• Perform takeoffs for plan changes and other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of related experience
• CA highway/CalTrans or heavy civil construction experience
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and drawings.
• Proficiency with construction software (Blue Beam, OST, Heavy Job, HCSS) is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
