General Summary
The IT Technician is responsible for configuring, deploying, and monitoring both server and desktop environments to ensure alignment with company policies, goals, and operational objectives. The role also involves supporting and troubleshooting daily IT issues for personnel and performing other tasks necessary to complete such work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for technology systems, including computers, printers, copiers, security cameras, phones, software, Microsoft suites, network support, and company website management.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and software equipment.
- Educate fellow employees to enhance product workflow.
- Set up new accounts, conduct new user orientation, reset passwords, and unlock accounts.
- Collaborate with vendors and consultants to resolve system and software issues.
- Manage inventory and lifecycle of technology assets.
- Install, terminate, and maintain Ethernet and fiber cables and connectors.
- Manage service tickets and maintain documentation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication, time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with advanced knowledge of computerized equipment.
- Proficiency in current Windows desktop platforms and Windows Servers.
- Practical understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, QOS, and DHCP.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
Education and Experience
- A certificate or Associate's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
The IT Technician must be able to perform the following physical activities, either with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Work in various environments, including outdoors, with exposure to large moving equipment, chemicals, loud noises, vibrations, dusty conditions, and extreme temperatures.
- Operate general office equipment.
- Access all areas of company premises, including climbing stairs.
- Climb ladders, work on elevated walkways, and operate at heights of up to 175 feet (such as the top of grain legs for wireless radio transmitters and cameras).
- Adhere to safety precautions for technologies in the plant.
- Operate JLG lifts, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
- Perform physical tasks, such as pulling wire for projects, and use hand tools like wire cutters and screwdrivers.
- Engage in overhead work when installing, managing, and troubleshooting technologies and hardware.
- Perform frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and standing.
Working Conditions
- Standard office setting with occasional exposure to dust.
- Work may also be performed outdoors or in the plant, exposing the technician to dust, particles, weather conditions, noise, vibrations, and other extremes.
- Hours may vary depending on project or task scope.
