Position Summary:

We are seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Core Network Team. This role focuses on the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, with a strong emphasis on scripting and VMware administration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Linux systems, including Rocky Red Hat and other distributions, and a solid understanding of networking principles. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative and innovative environment that supports a comprehensive service provider network across South Carolina and North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Rocky Red Hat and other distributions such as Ubuntu).
• Support and administer an enterprise server environment, including physical and virtual servers (100-150 servers).
• Maintain and manage the VMware environment.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools such as Python, Ansible, Bash, or Perl.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Linux-based server system issues, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
• Design and implement server systems tailored to application requirements.
• Install and configure server hardware to meet operational needs.
• Create and maintain detailed system documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, server administrators, network engineers, and security professionals.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, providing support approximately once every 6-8 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of Linux Administration experience, including expertise with Rocky Red Hat and other distributions.
• Proficiency in scripting using Python, Ansible, Bash, or Perl.
• Hands-on VMware administration experience.
• General understanding of networking concepts and technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with Linux-based server systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience standing up a Linux server and VMware implementation from scratch.
• Proven experience designing Linux-based server systems.
• Familiarity with installing server hardware.
