Location: Vernon, CA (on-site) About This Role:
We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Designer with a strong background in sweater design and development to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing seasonal womenswear collections, with a focus on knitwear. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, production, merchandising, and marketing, to ensure that each design meets the highest standards of quality, style, and functionality.

This role reports to the Creative Director.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and developing seasonal collections
- Identify emerging trends and create design briefs for internal presentations
- Ability to recognize and accurately forecast key trends and colors that are relatable to the brands
- Research marketplace for inspiration and product opportunities
- Sourcing, innovating, and developing yarns, fabrics, and trims
- Develop flat sketches for all designs aligned with brand’s overall aesthetic and vision
- Prepare all necessary components for design presentations, such as sketch boards, proto reviews, and production hand-offs
- Create and update tech packs for proto development. Collaborate with Technical Designers to ensure development packages are accurate
- Attend proto review and fit sessions, note feedback, and update sketches as necessary
- Responsible for following through fabric/yarn submits, strike offs, and approvals in partnership with Product Development team
- Responsible for development and production approvals
- Print development, work with print vendors to create artwork and set up print detail sheets for factories
- Execute sample send outs. Spec samples, ensure accurate information is provided to buyers
- Manage and prioritize sample room workflow. Work closely with in-house patternmakers, cutters, and sample makers
- Responsible for photoshoot samples. Lead sample hand-off, provide Marketing team with fit/edit callouts
- Daily communication with domestic and overseas vendors
- Lead and mentor Assistant Designers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design or related field is preferred
- 6+ years work experience in the apparel industry as a designer with sweater experience
- Sweater specific knowledge of yarns, tension, gauge, stitches, knitting machines, and finishing method
- Extensive knowledge of garment construction and trim components
- Strong flat sketching skills (CAD)
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize workload to meet calendar goals
- Excellent time-management skills and superior attention-to-detail
- Ability to multi-task, proactively troubleshoot, problem solve, and effectively influence
- Great interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Can-do positive attitude and a roll-up-your-sleeves approach; personable and flexible with demands and changes in business
