Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer 3 (Battery System) role in Mossville, IL. The work will be done onsite. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation is $52/hr + OT including benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, 401K and holiday pay. Cullerton Group will provide sponsorship.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group :
As a Battery Systems Development Engineer you will work with a team of engineers and be accountable to create and execution of battery module and system level validation plans. This would include tasks such as reviewing battery system standards (examples ISO, IEC, UL), creating pretest planning documentation, executing test processes, and reviewing test data for acceptance. The successful candidate will serve as an experienced contributor on assignments that are complex in nature, working with teams across the US
Typical task breakdown:
- Support in the review of customer application requirements and apply those details toward validation success criteria
- Support validation and development documentation process by working with design teams to:
- Create Boundary Diagrams
- Creation & Maintain Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
- Develop and execute Design Verification Test Plan
- Test Setup & Coordination with internal and external test facilities
- Test Data Review
- NPI Issue creation and support design improvements based upon learning found in testing.
- Provide documentation of validation to support compliance needs to customer or regional standards (TANs / Functional Safety / etc.)
Interaction with team :
- Co-located with battery team members. Working independently frequently on battery system test planning, execution and documentation.
Work environment :
Office, labs, factories, proving grounds
Education & Experience Required:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineers with battery or testing backgrounds. Preferably with an understanding of battery standards.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years experience required.
- Masters / PhD degrees could allow for 3+ years experience
Technical Skills

- Understanding of battery electrical systems
- Ability to read prints and electrical schematics
- Previous product development experience (design, validation/test or analysis)
- Document issues and assist in identifying root cause
(Desired)
- Previous design or test experience related to battery system development
- Previous design or test experience with off-road equipment.
