Position: Test Engineer/Vehicle Validation Engineer

**This is a test position so 40% driving vehicles out in the field (this is a hands-on position)

Type: W2, Contract, FT

Pay: $48-55/hr

Location: Must be local or willing to relocate to be onsite day 1.

Summary: The main function of this Test Engineer is to ensure Vehicle DC Fast Charging Interoperability with prototype vehicles and charging infrastructure to qualify the release and performance of Hardware & Software. Manage release testing, develop test runs and execute test runs. This will be a test and validation engineer- going out to charges and testing with equipment

Responsibilities:

Charging Communication Testing

• Troubleshoot interoperability charging communication issues primarily on DC fast charging.

• Collect & analyze PLC charging communication & vehicle CAN data.

• Understand charging services via OCPP & API messages and how it relates to charging functionality.

• Understand SAE and ISO standards & develop test cases for interoperability testing.

•Update Test Vehicles with Hardware and/or Software and perform smoke tests to ensure successful updates

•Ensure Charging System (components and software) operation by monitoring logs and communications between ECUs

• Participate in charging interoperability testing symposiums (Charin, ACT) & collaborate with industry across CPOs, EVSE Manufacturers, & OEMs.

• Collect feedback & develop technical requirements for US specific system/feature implementation.

• Generate regular project reports.

•Plan and manage development activities in support of project plans to ensure timely completion of projects

•Regular and proactive communication to management of project issues, delays, risks with potential solutions and needed resources

•Maintain high awareness of the EV charging infrastructure in the USA to align our testing efforts to match the CPO & EVSE market developments.

•Work independently and meet deadlines

•Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally

Qualifications:

- Education- BA in electrical or Mechanical engineering

-Basic knowledge of electrical vehicles and basic knowledge of public charger infrastructure

- Microsoft office

- Test case procedure and validation experience

-Understanding of charging standards and regulations

- Familiar with German language (works with German colleagues)

- Some automotive industry (CPO or EVSE) Companies within the electrical industry

-Valid drivers license is required

-Exp working with vehicle data analysis tools (examples: can analyzer, ioteca)

- Being able to read diagnostic

Skills:

Must have testing exp and has done some testing before (ideally vehicles/ electrical but not required)

Familiar with test procedures

Comfortable behind a wheel driving prototype vehicle- and hands on with chargers

Ability to learn diagnostic tools (ability to learn and use critical thinking to process and summarize)
