Job Description:
The Maintenance Unit Supervisor – Mechanical Utilities/Crane Repair provides leadership and direction to ensure efficient production, safety, and quality in a lean manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Area Technical Leader, this role focuses on productivity, rapid problem-solving, and sustainable business practices in alignment with lean manufacturing principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a safe work environment, leading safety discussions and job-specific reviews.
- Manage subordinates to achieve performance in quantity, quality, timeliness, safety, and recovery.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to develop employees.
- Allocate tasks based on business priorities and ensure fair distribution of work.
- Develop effective crewing arrangements for planned/unplanned situations.
- Lead a diverse, flexible, and technically capable maintenance workforce.
- Implement root cause analysis to address and prevent production issues.
- Collect data to assist in problem-solving and major exception management.
- Ensure cost-effective asset management, world-class equipment availability, and long-term equipment viability.
- Uphold lean manufacturing principles to improve quality, costs, and waste elimination.
- Address differential performance, including recognition, rewards, and equitable discipline, with proper documentation.
- Build cooperative relationships, influence stakeholders, and resolve issues for customer satisfaction.
Note: The position involves supervising 12-hour rotating shifts, alternating between day and night.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Visa sponsorship not available).
Preferred Requirements:
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of HR/IR policies, including bargaining and local agreements.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing (ABS) principles.
