Job Description
We are seeking a Pension Assistant to support a large organization in DC. The Pension Assistant is responsible for processing pension benefit calculations in compliance with plan rules and regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply complex pension-related regulations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process pension benefit calculations and recalculations based on plan rules, regulations, and merger agreements.
  • Analyze and apply ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulations related to pension benefits.
  • Research and resolve pension benefit-related delinquencies in coordination with the Contributions Compliance Department.
  • Manage and maintain pension benefit application data.
  • Assist with software implementation and clerical functions.
  • Prepare reports for trustee meetings and support special projects as assigned.
  • Provide customer service by addressing participant, beneficiary, trustee, and employer inquiries.
  • Support the Executive Director, Deputy Director, Benefits Processing Manager, and Assistant Benefits Processing Manager as needed

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Advanced Math, or a related field with two (2) years of experience in a pension environment.
  • Equivalency: High school diploma/GED plus one (1) year of college coursework in Business Administration, Advanced Math, or a related field, along with three (3) years of pension experience .
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulations related to pension benefits.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex pension plan language and merger agreements.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in benefit calculations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Data entry proficiency with the ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and pension-related database systems.
