The Controller has overall responsibility for the accuracy, integrity and communication of the Company’s financial results, in accordance with GAAP.The Controller will maintain department process documentation and provide management of internal controls. The Controller will also be actively involved in all aspects of the business (internal and external) to ensure that the financial records properly reflect and support the business activities. The Controller is expected to take a very active role and partner with executive leadership to drive business analysis and decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Oversee the Company’s accounting functions.

Responsible for the overall accuracy of the internal financial data and external financial statements.

Manage and drive the month end and year-end financial close processes.

Responsible for providing necessary information to the Company’s accounting firm for the preparation of annual tax filings and financial statements audit.

Assist in the professional development of Accounting department personnel to support long-term growth.

Develop and maintain internal controls within the accounting department.

Create a system of process documentation and Company accounting policies.

Assist in organizing and/or training employees in other departments on the operation of the Company’s ERP system.

Manage Company costs by implementing tools to analyze plant performance, sales programs, etc.

Assist the VP of Finance and Accounting in determining the annual budget and continuous forecasting.

Produce reports that can be utilized by the Company’s management team.

Maintain the fixed asset process to include capture of fixed asset information including capitalized amounts, depreciation expense, and disposal of fixed assets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BBA in Accounting from an accredited university; CPA preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably food industry) with a minimum of five years of supervision/management experience.

SKILLS:

Proven ability to manage in a diverse and changing environment.

Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work across departmental teams.

Proficiency with mid-level ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus).

Advanced Excel skills and familiarity.

Fluency in Spanish a plus.

RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to the Vice President of Finance and Accounting.
• Works closely with all departments and operational leaders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend, use hands and fingers and climb stairs. This job requires the employee to be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. The employee must be able to hear and have color vision. The duties of this job also require extensive hours looking at a computer screen and typing.
