Position Summary:
We are representing a prominent logistics company in search of an Ocean Import & Export Specialist to join their growing team in New Jersey . This crucial role will involve managing international ocean shipments and ensuring timely and efficient deliveries across key trade lanes for the company's high-profile clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering exceptional customer service and tailored solutions.
- Ocean Import/Export Operations: Oversee end-to-end operations for ocean imports and exports, ensuring smooth and timely deliveries.
- Documentation & Compliance: Accurately prepare and process import/export documentation, ensuring full compliance with international trade regulations.
- Customs Coordination: Collaborate with customs authorities to facilitate timely shipment clearance and avoid any potential delays.
- Transportation Arrangements: Coordinate ocean transportation, selecting the most cost-effective and timely modes based on cargo requirements.
- Rate Negotiation: Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers to ensure profitability while maintaining high-quality service.
- Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and address any shipping issues, minimizing disruptions to the supply chain.
- Performance Reporting: Prepare and analyze reports to assess shipment performance and identify areas for process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years of freight forwarding experience, with a strong focus on ocean import/export operations.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of ocean import/export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and customs clearance software (e.g., CargoWise, AS400, SAP) is a plus.
