Role Description
SZ PM Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Manager to lead and oversee project controls for capital projects. This position will provide expertise in cost management, project scheduling, financial tracking, and risk mitigation to ensure project success.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage project controls for capital projects, ensuring cost efficiency and timely execution.
- Oversee cost control, scheduling, budgeting, quality reviews, forecasting, and change management.
- Compile and analyze project cost data to support decision-making.
- Maintain project schedules, track progress, and update project milestones.
- Monitor financial transactions, including vendor purchase orders, cost proposals, change orders, and invoice approvals.
- Establish operating procedures to mitigate risk and improve project oversight.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and five-year capital plans.
- Maintain document control systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Conduct internal audits to verify data accuracy and project compliance.
- Provide training and mentorship to Project Controls Specialists.
- Prepare project status presentations and develop customized reports for senior management.
- Ensure proper contract tracking, change order management, and project close-out.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting, Construction, Engineering, or Project Management.
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project controls.
- A combination of 10 years of experience and training may be considered in place of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the transportation or infrastructure industry.
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS).
- Certification in Cost Control (CCC/CCE) or Scheduling (PSP) is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project scheduling tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local construction regulations.
