A well-established mechanical contractor located in the Winston-Salem, NC area, is looking to fill the position of an experienced Plumbing and Mechanical Estimator for health care, commercial, and industrial projects. We offer excellent benefits, competitive pay, and opportunities for growth.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years experience (10 years preferred) in the Mechanical & Plumbing industry and at least 3 years of estimating experience
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
- Have the ability to develop budget estimates from conceptual plans.
- Ability to understand HVAC and plumbing systems and have a knowledge of the building code
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to write proposal letters detailing scope of work and pricing
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office related products and Adobe. Autocad experience a plus.
- Strong work ethic. Willing to meet scheduled deadlines for assembling bids
- Creativity with the ability to think outside of the box for problem solving
- The essential roles and responsibilities are outlined below:
- Solicit bids from suppliers and subcontractors for both plumbing and mechanical trades and review scopes of work.
- Ability to develop detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical and plumbing piping and ductwork.
- Price pipe, valves, fittings, and ductwork materials.
- Performs new equipment takeoffs.
- Assists Managers and Project Managers with technical support.
- Analyze construction schedules as they pertain to labor needs and overall costs that would affect job pricing.
- Assist Manager to determine proposal price and selling strategy.
- Resolves major deviations from scope with team after project award.
- Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time.
- Assist in a project management role should the need arise.
