Engine System Calibration Development Engineer
Daily Schedule/Shift:
- 1st shift, Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm
- Onsite 5 days a week, no hybrid option
- May occasionally be required to support remotely on weekends
Target Start Date: 2/28/2025
Remote Possibility: On weekends, if needed
Assignment Duration: 52 weeks
Job Description: We are looking for a high-performing Engine System Calibration Development Engineer, responsible for planning, developing, and executing system-level tests in a world-class testing and development facility. Tasks include data analysis, calibration development, identifying opportunities for data reduction, and leading the migration of lab-based activities to math. This role involves creativity, initiative, and independent judgment, with effective cross-organizational teamwork being crucial.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare development engines for testing, ensuring both hardware and calibration are test-ready
- Create, track, and report on calibration testing progress and issues
- Support Durability/Validation teams with proven calibrations as appropriate
- Develop and execute first-time capable tests for calibration development
- Lead diagnosis and resolution of issues that occur during setup and testing
- Develop and implement standard work processes and procedures globally
- Interact with facilities, technical leads, calibration teams, hardware release engineers, and others to improve process and test efficiency
- Support math-based activities, migrating additional work from Road and Lab to Math-based models and data analysis
- Train, mentor, and develop new engineers
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics
- Experience with Bosch controllers and calibration is required
- 3+ years of experience in automotive engineering with engine knowledge
- Experience with AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software
- Exposure to propulsion system calibration in test and vehicle environments
- Demonstrated drive for results
- Excellent planning and problem-solving skills
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships
- Ability to prioritize work and resources, and work independently with minimal direction
- Proficient with computer and data acquisition systems
- Experience in data analysis to optimize testing or model results
- Ability to travel as required for offsite testing (less than 15%)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and 3-5 years of experience with engine testing, calibration, or hardware development
- Experience with engine dyno setup and testing
- Familiarity with government test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE)
