Position Overview:
We are seeking a Global Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) to lead the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of our HSE programs worldwide. This role ensures the organization meets regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in renewable energy or construction industries and a deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices in these fields. This position requires traveling 25%
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global HSE strategy aligned with Nextracker’s mission and business objectives.
- Partner with executive leadership to integrate HSE principles into organizational decision-making and planning.
- Program Development:
- Establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Create and maintain robust systems for risk assessment, incident reporting, and emergency response.
- Operational Excellence:
- Provide guidance and support to site-level teams in implementing HSE standards across global operations, including manufacturing facilities, field projects, and offices.
- Monitor and audit facilities and project sites to ensure adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
- Culture and Engagement:
- Drive a proactive safety culture, emphasizing education, training, and accountability.
- Lead initiatives to promote environmental sustainability and the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint.
- Reporting and Metrics:
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on HSE program effectiveness.
- Present regular updates to executive leadership on HSE initiatives, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, industry groups, and internal stakeholders on HSE matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with global operational goals.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE leadership roles, prefer at least 5 years in the renewable energy or construction industries.
- Ability to travel 25% - non negotiable
- Proven track record of managing HSE programs in a global or multi-site environment.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of global health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) strongly desired.
