Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist/ Medical Technologist to support our client’s medical facility in Washington and other locations. This is a Contract to Hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Job Summary:
A Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist plays a crucial role in healthcare by performing complex laboratory tests on patient samples to aid in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. They are responsible for analyzing blood, urine, and other bodily fluids using specialized equipment, ensuring accuracy and quality in testing procedures. MLS professionals interpret test results, maintain laboratory instruments, and follow safety and regulatory guidelines. They often collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to offer critical insights into patient care. With a strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, microbiology, hematology, and biochemistry, they contribute to effective medical decision-making. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong analytical skills are essential in this dynamic and fast-paced field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with processing specimens when needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
- Active ASCP or AMT cert and state medical tech license
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field. OR a BS in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science with 1 year of specialty training/experience in the relevant testing area, equivalent to Medical Technology school training. OR 90 semester hours from an accredited institution, including: 16 hours in Biology, 16 hours in Chemistry (at least 6 hours inorganic), 3 hours in Math, plus completion of an accredited Clinical Laboratory training program or 1 year of documented clinical lab training/experience in the specialty. OR an Associate's degree in Medical Technology.

- Shifts: 8 HOURS A DAY
- Weekly Pay: $35-$37/ hr
