HSAGP (Hyundai-SK America Green power) Energy LLC. is Hyundai Motor Group and SK on' s joint venture company to produce batteries for EVs. The joint venture plans to invest $5 billion to build an EV battery cell plant in Bartow County, Georgia. Hyundai Motor Group and SK On will each hold a 50 percent stake in the joint venture. The new plant created by the two companies is expected to start manufacturing battery cells in the first half of 2026 with an annual production capacity of 35 GWh, enough to support the production of 300,000 EVs a year. The future Bartow County plant in northwest Georgia is strategically located near Hyundai Motor Group’s existing and planned U.S. facilities. Summary:

Environmental Sr. Specialist in EH&S is responsible for minimizing environment pollution (air, water, soil, waste, chemical substances, noise and vibration) and monitoring laws and regulations related with battery manufacturing. Its primary job is to assess the status of work environment; establish and implement work environment guidelines. This position also needs to interact with utility engineers and operators, equipment engineers, control engineers, production engineers and manager, customers, vendors, and local community to solve urgent complex problems by identifying and evaluating alternatives or reporting EH&S related issues. This position requires some on-call support.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

Environmental Pollution Assessment and Compliance

  • Assess and reduce environmental pollution cause by manufacturing process and equipment (design, construction, operations, maintenance, and disposal)
  • Monitor and report whether (pollution causing substances) emission facilities and disasters prevention facilities meet authorities/permission regulations

Environmental Management

  • Establish and implement environment management standards, procedures, and guidelines (air, water quality, waste, soil marine environment greenhouse gases)
  • Establish management strategy and implement it to maintain environment emission prevention facilities (air, waste, wastewater, chemicals)
  • Research air/water quality monitoring companies and draw up contracts
  • Develop and track waste reduction and recycling program
  • Establish management criteria for waste storage, transportation and treatment
  • Monitor waste disposal vendors to treat waste through the guideline

Chemical Material Management

  • Manage SDS and comply with the guidelines
  • Review authorization and permission regulating when changing quantity and concentration of chemical substances

Cell Discharge Room Management

  • Train operators on cell discharge room operation
  • List up and purchase necessary equipment

Communications

  • Report work environment status to government agencies and take follow measures
  • Liaises effectively with status authorities; customers and local communities through constant communications and provide environments information if requires


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant experience in EV battery, auto parts, automobile industry, or similar to high volume manufacturing
  • Battery manufacturing experiences (preferred)
  • PE (professional engineer) for the environment (preferred)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar programs (preferred)

  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms to include stoop, kneel, bend or crawl.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Office Environment: Must wear company-provided uniforms.
  • Production Site: Must wear company-provided uniform and PPE including safety shoes, helmet, safety glasses, and portable gas measuring device.

Work Environment:

  • Usual office environment, production, and construction sites
  • Risks include noise (above 90 dB in compressor room), high temperatures (104–122°F in various rooms), and potential exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., heating medium oil, NMP, water treatment chemicals)
