Job Description:
My client, a leading heavy civil contractor in Stuart, FL, is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing heavy civil projects , including roads, highways, bridges, and underground utilities. This role requires technical expertise, leadership, and a results-driven mindset to oversee projects from inception to successful completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of heavy civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 to track milestones and manage timelines effectively.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, change orders, and forecasts using HCSS software for accurate cost control and analysis.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, city agencies, and the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) to ensure compliance with project requirements and regulations.
- Oversee project procurement, including materials, equipment, and subcontractor selection, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, subcontractors, and field staff, to achieve project goals.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout project execution.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering professional growth and development.
- Prepare detailed progress reports and present updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management , or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in heavy civil construction, with a strong focus on municipal and DOT projects.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob software.
- Demonstrated experience working on projects with municipalities, city agencies, and the Florida DOT.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a commitment to safety and quality.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing projects valued at $10M or more.
- Familiarity with design-build and public-private partnership (P3) delivery methods.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes in Florida.
