Job Title: Quality Manager


Location: Mebane, NC

Position Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 per year

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview:

The Greer Group is partnering with our client to hire a Quality Manager to oversee and enhance their Quality Management System (QMS) in a manufacturing environment. As the Quality Manager , you will be integral to ensuring that the organization maintains ISO 9001 certification standards while driving a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader to have a direct impact on product quality, team development, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Hiring, Training & Development: Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of talented personnel for the Quality Department. Foster team development by providing ongoing training and growth opportunities in quality control procedures and techniques.
  • Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback to drive team excellence. Recognize strengths and support areas for improvement.
  • Discipline & Employee Relations: Address employee performance issues proactively, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of company policies.
  • Daily Operations Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Quality Department, ensuring smooth workflow, effective scheduling, and adherence to quality standards.

Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement:

  • QMS Implementation & Improvement: Oversee and continually improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards. Drive adherence across all manufacturing processes to maintain high-quality output.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality is embedded from the earliest stages of product design through to production. Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new products and modifications to existing ones.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Lead the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process to address quality issues with supplier materials or components. Ensure timely resolution and prevention of recurrence by collaborating with suppliers.
  • Quality Inspections & Audits: Continuously monitor and audit production processes, identify quality issues, and implement corrective actions. Lead regular inspections to ensure product compliance with quality standards.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Develop, track, and report on KPIs related to product quality. Use data to analyze trends and guide recommendations for process improvements.

Culture of Quality Excellence:

  • Foster Quality Awareness: Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization, emphasizing continuous improvement and accountability. Ensure that all employees understand and prioritize quality in their work.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in and lead cross-functional projects to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, ensuring quality is maintained at every step.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (plastics or manufacturing focus preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality assurance or manufacturing leadership role, with a proven track record in plastic injection molding or related industries.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or ISO 9001 Auditor certification.
  • Skills & Expertise:
  • Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 certification processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools, and quality control methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to drive cultural and operational shifts toward quality excellence.
  • Experience with PPAP, SCAR, and NPI processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machinery, and inspect parts.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery.
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
