Project Overview:
The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture (JV) consisting of VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Walsh Construction has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project – the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, extending from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. We are seeking a Temporary Works Engineer (Temporary Works Engineer Manager) who will manage the overall methods and temporary structures of the Project.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical expert for constructability, means & methods definition and finalization, proposals for technical alternatives, detailed design and construction aspects of the project
- Serve as part of the formal process of Design development and review and ESDC (Engineering Support During Construction) process
- Manage the methods team of the Project: team and people management in relation with technical manager, discipline lead, and construction team
- Prepare detailed installation plans, methodology, processes, and procedures for support of construction team, method statement for installation, delivery and transport of materials/equipment, storage, and issuance for site installation works, erection of elevated structures: deep foundation, temporary support of excavation, pier, pier-head, column, straddle bent, bearing, segmental deck, steel girder deck, expansion joint, noise wall, track installation, station platform erection, station construction, civil works, utilities relocation and installation, utilities protection
- Participate, propose in means and methods definition, back and forth and finalization with Design team and Construction team
- Define, implement and manage the Temporary Works politic of the Project: process during design development, manufacturing, delivery, assembly, final use on site and dismantling
- Follow procedure and process in monitoring and tracking of temporary engineering related documentation throughout project lifestyle
- Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and subcontractors,
- Prepare and deliver various installation/erection or construction related presentations, both internally and externally.
Qualifications:
Required
- Master's degree in engineering
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in complex bridge projects using heavy equipment, various specific erection methods
- A minimum or 10 years’ experience for a major company or division of a large corporation
- Various positions possible: methods, design and/or construction
- Experience in Transit Projects with Systems Integration
- Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects
- Fluent in English with professional proficiency
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred
- Experience in North American projects.
Work Environment:
- Involves a dynamic and challenging work environment
- Includes tasks such as maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety protocols in construction sites
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and reflective vests when on-site

- Occasional climbing on and off equipment and bending
