Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm based in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a highly qualified Counsel to join their Labor & Employment Department. This role requires extensive experience in labor and employment law, particularly in defending single-plaintiff litigation, handling PAGA and class action matters, and providing expert employment law counseling. The ideal candidate will possess a robust academic record and the ability to independently manage cases from start to finish.Duties:Defend against single-plaintiff litigation, including matters related to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation.Handle PAGA and class action cases with a focus on providing effective legal strategies.Manage cases independently from inception to resolution.Draft, review, and respond to initial pleadings and discovery.Draft and argue motions, including dispositive and discovery motions.Take and defend depositions, including depositions of plaintiffs and corporate witnesses.Provide employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations.Ideally, contribute a smaller portable book of business.Requirements:Juris Doctorate (JD) required.Must be licensed to practice law in California.9-12 years of relevant experience in labor and employment law, specifically in litigation.Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.Proven ability to work independently and manage complex cases.Experience with both federal and state employment laws and regulations.A smaller portable book of business is a plus.Education:Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active license to practice law in the State of California.Skills:Expertise in defending employment-related lawsuits and legal claims.Strong motion practice, including dispositive and discovery motions.Skilled in deposition preparation and execution.High-level proficiency in legal research and writing.Ability to provide sound and practical employment law counseling.Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple complex legal cases.Job Location:Los Angeles, CACompensation and Benefits:Competitive compensation package.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.Retirement plan options.Generous paid time off (PTO) and holidays.Professional development and continuing education opportunities.Company Info:Our growing Los Angeles office is looking to add to its ranks through the acquisition of new partners and/or groups.
