Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and collaborates with patients, family/significant others, peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in delivering healthcare services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assess patient needs and plan care according to hospital philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards
- Implement and evaluate medical and nursing regimens
- Provide respectful care that promotes mutual respect, shared decision-making, and informed consent
- Respect patient autonomy and dignity regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, language, or any other protected status
- Prioritize and address patient care and unit-based issues
- Administer blood and blood products per policy
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school
- Current New York RN license/registration
- BSN degree
- Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends
Additional Requirements:
- One year of acute care nursing experience preferred for areas other than medical-surgical or step-down
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (for specific units)
