Senior Accountant - Hybrid in Baltimore, MD
About the Company and Overview of the Senior Accountant role:
- CFS is partnering with a repeat client to find a Senior Accountant to join their growing, medium sized accounting team
- The Senior Accountant position begins on a contractual basis and can become permanent for the right candidate. This person must be very strong with balance sheet recs , able to work in a fast paced and high volume environment, and be comfortable shifting priorities quickly
- Position is hybrid and based in Baltimore city (21230). 3-4 days in office while training for firs 3-4 weeks. After training, period, 1-2 days in office. M-F, 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week (can be flexible if needed)

- Salary: $75,000-80,000
Job Duties of the Senior Accountant: - Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Perform daily cash reconciliations and cashflow monitoring.
- Review, reconcile, and post daily customs reports.
- Manage and process approved write-offs.
- Reconcile and post payments processed through accounting systems.
- Resolve and reconcile customer contingency and excess duty refunds.
- Track employee expense reimbursements and submit to payroll for bi-weekly processing.
- Post corporate credit card transactions, reconcile monthly statement, and schedule timely payment.
- Complete month-end close journal entries including accrued and prepaid expenses, accrued receivables, and reserves.
- Record newly acquired fixed assets, track existing fixed assets, and record accompanying depreciation journal entries.
- Review and analyze monthly expenses to ensure expenses are accurately coded in the general ledger and complete for month-end financial reporting.
- Assist with preparation of year-end tax and audit support schedules.
- Monitor A/P aging, ensuring aged payables are resolved.
- Assist Accounts Payable staff with processing, reconciling, and scheduling vendor payments.
- Assist with management of the AP mailbox to ensure appropriate processing times and resolution of incoming vendor correspondences/inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to research and resolve reconciling discrepancies and ensure timely processing of payments.
- Update daily foreign exchange rates in the billing system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related a plus, but not required
- 5+ years' accounting experience required; Must have very strong experience handling balance sheet reconciliation
- Experience with general ledger, posting journal entries, fixed asset management, and/or lease accounting highly preferred
- Proficiency with Excel required (pivot tables and vlookup)
- Proactive, excellent written and verbal communication skills, courteous and effective communication with internal and external customers
- Must be able to pass a criminal background and credit check
