Job Description

Our client, a well-established and privately-held company in Baltimore County, is seeking an Assistant Controller to manage daily accounting operations and assist with financial management. This position is newly created due to growth and provides stability as the company has been in existence for over 60 years! This is an on-site position, Monday through Friday .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of Accounts Receivable (A/R) , including daily invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (A/P) by entering bills into QuickBooks, handling weekly check runs, and monitoring credit card transactions and payments.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time.
  • Perform month-end closing procedures , including preparing sales reports, commission reports, profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and aging reports for A/R and A/P.
  • Reconcile postage accounts between the USPS EPS system and client postage payments and escrows.
  • Handle monthly sales tax filings and payments .
  • Ensure all accounting practices comply with legal regulations and established accounting principles.
  • Record daily bank transactions into QuickBooks and process journal entries as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred or relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5+ years progressive accounting and bookkeeping experience in an accounting role.
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (Enterprise preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a small business environment focused on efficiency and accuracy.
