Job Description

The MCPHS School of Optometry seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in The Eye and Vision Center. The selected candidate will have responsibilities in clinical precepting in the Primary Care Service in The Eye and Vision Center and/or our affiliated community health centers to optometry student interns.

  • Precept 3rd and 4th year optometry students in The Eye and Vision Center Primary Care service as well as in our affiliated community health centers (placement is based on clinical needs).
  • Teach 3rd and 4th year optometry students effective, evidence-based methods of patient care based on the MCPHS School of Optometry clinical curriculum
  • Teach 3rd and 4th year students evidence-based methods to treat and manage patients, including glaucoma.
  • Objectively grade optometry students based on their clinical knowledge, skills, and patient management
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor
Required:
  • Must have an O.D. degree from an ACOE accredited school or college of optometry
  • Must have a Massachusetts optometry license
  • Must have a Massachusetts controlled substance license
  • Minimum of five year's work experience
  • Residency training is desired
  • Commitment to professional optometric education and student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Have experience providing primary care treatment and management
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively, interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)
