Traveler Experience: Unit does not accept first time travelers

Skills: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Multi-system organ failure, Obtain 12 lead EKG, Thermoregulation: hypothermia/hyperthermia, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, Chronic/Acute Renal failure, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Continuous IV paralytics/Neuromuscular blockade, Continuous IV sedation, Emergency Medications, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, CVA/Acute Stroke management, Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Assist with Chest Tube Insertion/Removal, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management, Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Patient Diagnoses: The ICU delivers care to critically ill and injured patients with a focus on trauma, cardiac, pulmonary, unstable post-op/post-partum patients and critical medical conditions. Diagnoses include but are not limited to cardiac, sepsis, pulmonary, surgical, renal, trauma, neurological and DKA.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Central lines, bedside Bronch/endoscopy. Intubations A-lines, prone patients BIPAP/CPAP, High flow Insulin drips for DKA, high blood sugars and high triglycerides. Flolan - respiratory

UNIT SYSTEMS (Medication, Documentation, Communication): Omnicell, meditech Expanse

UNIT ORIENTATION: 2- 12 hr shifts in the ICU with a preceptor - does not include mandatory HR and Nursing Education department time
