Roadway Construction Inspector

Southstar | DCCM has an immediate opening for an experienced Roadway Construction Inspector for private developer projects. The full-time position will require travel to serve our client in the Riverside, California area.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a full-time roadway construction inspector with 4+ years of experience with inspection experience reading plans and designs for roadway/drainage construction. The inspector will be expected to oversee construction of the civil infrastructure on large residential construction projects and systems, such as buildings utility connections, roadways and appurtenances, water and sewage systems. This is a long-term position with the company.

Roadway Construction Inspector Responsibilities, Skills and Abilities:

• Inspects project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
• Analyzes survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
• Compiles and submits permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations.
• Computes load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Provides technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to management personnel.
• Oversees soils/materials testing to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, and/or steel.
• Directs in land surveying efforts to lay out installations or establish reference points, grades, or elevations to guide construction.

Roadway Construction Inspector Job Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (preferred)
• Experience: At least 4 years of related experience (mandatory)
• Inspection experience with transportation, slopes, street drainage, water/sewer, asphalt thickness measurements, and drawings (mandatory)
• Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual
• Knowledge and experience with equipment used in roadway construction inspection, surveying, and construction office engineering
• Knowledge of computers, computer applications, and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others)
• Knowledge and experience with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program and the General Permit
