About the Role:
As a Protein Biochemistry Senior Scientist, you will advance our genetic medicine technologies, enabling the discovery and development of new therapeutics. Working with a diverse team of cell biologists, protein and RNA engineers, computational scientists, molecular biologists, and translational biologists, you will:
• Independently generate, troubleshoot and develop novel protein design strategies
• Lead the preparation, characterization and functional testing of engineered proteins and ensure timely delivery of reagents to internal stakeholders and potential collaborators
• Contribute to the advancement of our multiplexed measurements technology
• Interface with internal therapeutic development efforts to facilitate multiplexed screening projects
• Maintain data integrity and effectively communicate findings orally and in writing to a multidisciplinary team
• Stay up to speed on cutting edge research and industry standards for protein therapeutics
Requirements:
• PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Bioengineering or similar
• Demonstrated knowledge of various techniques and troubleshooting abilities related to protein engineering, e.g. functional library screening, chimeric protein design and optimization, protein labeling (site-specific, lysine, chemical and enzymatic, etc)
• Strong hands-on expertise in molecular cloning, protein production, purification and modification • Expertise with a range of analytical methods in protein biochemistry
• Proficient in a range of biophysical characterization methods.
• Proven track record of solving difficult scientific problems and a desire to learn and tackle new challenges
• Courageous, attention to details and data-driven, with a genuine passion for innovative science and developing medicines
Preferred Qualifications:
• Expertise in the overexpression of recombinant proteins from prokaryotic and eukaryotic hosts.
• High-level competency in designing and running multi-step chromatographic purification strategies utilizing modern AKTA FPLC systems (e.g. ÄKTA Pure)
• Experience in the assembly and characterization of multi-subunit nucleoprotein complexes
• Skilled in the biochemical and biophysical characterization of protein-DNA and protein
RNA interactions.
• Strong hands-on experience of high-throughput functional assay development and deployment
• Proficiency in binding affinity characterization methods, e.g. EMSA, ITC, MST, SPR, or BLI.
• Experience managing CRO workflows and partnerships
• A strong working knowledge of cutting-edge therapeutic in vivo delivery strategies.
