Job SummaryThe Phlebotomist is responsible for preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing screening standards, ensuring the efficient and accurate collection of blood samples. The Phlebotomist will create a calm and confident environment for patients while delivering quality care.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and manage decontamination and maintenance records.Greet patients courteously, creating a welcoming environment.Collect and store specimens according to protocols, explaining procedures in a clear and respectful manner.Use straight and butterfly needles, demonstrating skill and professionalism.Confirm all test requisitions or labels for accuracy against orders.Prepare specimens for transport, ensuring samples are stored at the appropriate temperature.Maintain proficiency in proper collection and processing methods, adhering to OSHA and DEP regulations.Answer patient inquiries and provide lab results, as appropriate.Attend annual department training sessions and complete additional assigned duties as needed.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (if required).Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred QualificationsStrong patient interaction skills in both in-person and phone interactions.Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
