SummarynnResponsible for providing professional nursing care to patients in a caring and compassionate manner following established standards and practices. Provides excellent customer service to patients and family members both in person and over the telephone while working collaboratively with the healthcare team.nnEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesnnSupports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.nnPrepares patient for examination/visit.nnObtains and thoroughly documents patient vital signs and reason for visit.nnPrepares patient chart for provider. Reviews current medications, allergies, treatments, height, weight, problem list and additional criteria as requested by provider.nnReviews and documents patient history (immunization, screenings, etc.).nnInstructs patient in collection of samples and preparation for tests.nnAssists providers with patient examinations and procedures.nnAssists with the preparation of equipment/instruments.nnAssists with patient education.nnScreens and documents patient calls determining the urgency of the problem; consults with provider regarding treatment and advises patient accordingly.nnPerforms patient triage.nnDocuments charts including returned phone calls, missed appointments or other clinical issues, with initials, date and time.nnTakes messages and assists providers with return phone calls.nnCalls in prescriptions per provider orders and protocols.nnRetrieves records and files/imports patient test results. Notifies patient of test results per provider direction thoroughly documenting patient outreach in a timely manner.nnPerform all required QCs (test and equipment).nnPreloads pertinent patient history in EMR.nnPerforms tests as instructed (i.e., EKGs, lab, vision, hearing, PFT, non-stress).nnAdministers allergy injections, medications, immunizations and other measured injectables per provider orders.nnPerforms dressing applications and changes.nnRemoves sutures.nnPerforms venipuncture per provider orders.nnPrepares, cleans and stocks exam rooms.nnSchedules patient appointments.nnAssists in scheduling patient tests.nnPrepares or performs pre-certifications and prior authorizations.nnOrders and maintains medical supplies.nnOrders and maintains vaccine inventory.nnAssists front office as needed.nnCompletes general filing/scanning/importing.nnCoordinates and completes paperwork/forms as directed related to referral, health/school/sports, immunizations, excused from/return to work/school, childcare and medication administration.
