We are seeking an Employment Counsel (junior level ) for our client. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in employment law, and will work closely with their Human Resources department.
Location: New York, NY or Edison, NJ (candidate should be willing to go to one of these office locations at least 3 days a week )
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day proactive legal advice, guidance, and counseling on employment law matters.
- Collaborate with HR to address employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and resolve grievances.
- Review and advise on disciplinary actions and terminations in partnership with HR.
- Assist in managing responses to subpoenas, document requests, and administrative complaints.
- Handle EEOC complaints and investigations and assist in the resolution of discrimination complaints.
- Support employment law litigation, including drafting and responding to legal documents.
- Recommend and help implement employment law training for the HR team.
- Maintain accurate employment law records and databases.
- Perform other legal duties as directed by the Head of Legal, Americas or Deputy Head of Legal - USA.
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in employment law, with a preference for candidates who have some in-house experience.
- Law degree from a top-tier law school and good standing to practice in any U.S. state.
- Strong analytical and judgment skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, team-oriented, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Open to taking on a variety of legal matters beyond just employment law.
- Experience interacting with HR teams and other legal colleagues effectively.
