POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Manager, Human Resources

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

REPORTS TO: Director, Human Resources

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

We are looking for a collaborative, innovative, and knowledgeable Human Resources Manager to forge productive relationships, drive initiatives to create a world-class employee experience and make a positive impact across our organizations; this includes Marquee Sports Network as well as some functional groups within the Chicago Cubs.

The successful candidate for this role will have broad experience across the HR function, with an ability to provide knowledge, consult, and support in the areas for HR, recruiting, as well as comp and benefits. Experience in vendor management partnering with a professional employer organization (PEO) is highly valued in this role as well.

RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Guide managers through the execution of HR processes and programs, which may include recruitment and onboarding, training and career development, employee relations, and compensation and benefits planning
    • Liaise with a professional employer organization (PEO) and optimize the processes and relationships.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EEO, FMLA, and FLSA. Assists line managers in the application of HR programs to departmental operations
    • Partner with leaders on projects, including diversity hiring initiatives and employee engagement activities
    • Answers associate or candidate questions about HR policies and offerings
    • Interpret and advise on HR policies; maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day to day management of employees.
    • Responsible for timely onboarding experience; coordinate with all departments (IT, Payroll, HR Operations) to ensure all onboarding activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner
    • Maintain an efficient flow of information between departments; work with Payroll and HR Operations to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner
    • Serve as point person for visa and immigration processes
    • Work with business leaders and HR team to identify and implement HR process improvements
    • Consult with and advise managers on employee relations; conduct investigations and ensure consistent application of disciplinary actions
    • Provide day to day coaching and performance management guidance; work with managers and employees to build strong work relationships, resulting in high productivity and associate retention
    • Use data and analytics to assess organizational health; partner with the business to develop and implement plans to address any issues identified and ensure positive associate relations
    • Assess and identify training needs for individuals and the organization; develop, evaluate and monitor programs to make sure learning objectives are met


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelors' Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related area highly preferred
    • 7+ years experience in Human Resources
    • Strong working knowledge of employment law, including hiring practices, EEO, wage and hour laws, etc.
    • Demonstrated experience effectively managing wide range of employee relations matters
    • Practical, results-oriented and solutions focused approach
    • Strong business acumen
    • Highly collaborative, able to build strong relationships across the organization, including senior leadership
    • Ability to influence business partners and build consensus among stakeholders; demonstrated track record of establishing self as a trusted advisor
    • Positive, can-do attitude
    • Ability to thrive when working with ambiguous situations
    • Strong time management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to consistently work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends and game days
    • Occasional travel may be required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience designing new processes or programs
    • Experience in vendor management; previous experience managing a PEO
    • Experience with and understanding of various bonus programs, including, but not limited to, annual bonus and sales incentive programs
    • Change Management experience
    • Ability to be proactive in learning the role and reaching out to build a wide internal network to ramp up.
