Descriptionnn$15,000 Sign-On Bonus AvailablennJob Summary/Overall ObjectivesnnProduces radiographs of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist.nnEssential Job FunctionsnnCollects pertinent data about the patient and procedure.nnReconfirms patient's identification and verifies the physician's order.nnReviews the patient's chart and/or the physician's order to determine the optimal imaging procedure for suspected pathology.nnVerifies the patient's pregnancy status when appropriate.nnProvide information to the patient about the procedure.nnVerifies the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions.nnProvides accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand.nnInstructs patient regarding preparation prior to imaging procedures including allergic reactions.nnAnalyzes the information obtained during assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.nnDetermines whether patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure.nnAssesses factors that may contraindicate procedures such as medications or insufficient patient preparation.nnSelects appropriate shielding and positioning devices.nnAdministers contrast agents according to established guidelines (if applicable)nnObtains written consent prior to IV contrast administration.nnEvaluates lab values prior to administering contrast agents.nnDetermines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered.nnMonitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media.nnObtains optimum images during exam/procedure.nnSets/adjusts radiographic equipment.nnPositions patients to obtain diagnostic images per established protocols.nnSends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist (where applicable).nnDocuments information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record (where applicable).nnVerifies/enters correct order into RIS/HISnnDocuments appropriate patient history in PACS system.nnDocuments any exceptions to the established guidelines.nnScans appropriate documents into PACS system.nnFacilitates correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done promptly (where applicable).nnWorks with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER (if applicable) to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders.nnCoordinates patient care with other departments within Imaging/radiologynnMaintains equipment and workstation in optimum condition.nnPerforms daily QC on radiographic equipment.nnAssure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.nnImplements downtime procedures when necessary (where applicable).nnCoordinates rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.nnInitiates established downtime procedures.nnOther duties as assigned.nnCompetency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)nnRequired Qualifications/ExperiencennCompletion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program recognized by the ARRT.nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.nnPreferred Qualifications/Experiencenn1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist.nnLicense, Certification & ClearancesnnCurrent registry with the ARRTnnCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.nnAct 33 with renewalnnAct 34 with renewalnnAct 73 with renewalnnSupervisory ResponsibilitiesnnThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.nnWork EnvironmentnnSee below.nnPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorknnIncumbents will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).nnTravel may be expected locally between System locations.nnPhysical Demands/RequirementsnnSee below.nnEqual Employment OpportunitynnIndependence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
