Job Title: Remote Systems Engineer
Salary: Up to $85,000 annually (Direct-Hire)

Role Summary & Objectives:
AimHire is partnering with a leading tech-enabled, private equity-backed marketing solutions provider to find a Remote Systems Engineer . The successful candidate will manage and optimize the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, efficient, and scalable. This role focuses heavily on Microsoft Azure , server management, automation, backup strategies, and some networking.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure and SharePoint for document management and collaboration. The role demands proactive problem-solving, system optimization, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Objectives of this Role:
- Manage and Monitor Infrastructure & Systems: Oversee all system and infrastructure installations, including configuration, testing, and ongoing maintenance to ensure high availability and operational efficiency.
- Backup, Security & Redundancy: Implement and maintain strategies for robust backup systems, security measures, and redundancy protocols.
- Proactive Issue Resolution: Identify potential issues and proactively implement solutions before they affect business operations.
- Automation & Scripting: Craft custom scripts to reduce manual intervention and automate routine tasks, enhancing operational efficiency.
- Enable Smarter Business Processes: Use automation to enable faster, smarter business processes and develop meaningful analytics for continuous improvement.
- Reporting & Communication: Engage regularly with upper management, providing detailed reports on project status, activities, and achievements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their objectives and translate them into effective system designs and solutions.
- Expert-Level System Administration: Provide expert-level administration of hosts and servers, ensuring high availability, resource optimization, and efficient management.
- Standardization & Automation: Standardize and automate system processes using scripting technologies to streamline operations.
- System Installation & Configuration: Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, ensuring they meet the company’s infrastructure requirements. Leverage IT staff for routine tasks by documenting design, maintenance, and support procedures.
- Routine Software Testing: Regularly test software for bugs, redundancies, and security vulnerabilities, ensuring systems run smoothly and securely.
- Root-Cause Analysis & Preventive Measures: Conduct high-level root-cause analysis of service interruptions and implement corrective actions to prevent future issues.
- Collaboration with IT Staff: Work closely with other IT staff to document system configurations and support routine maintenance, ensuring smooth workflows across the team.
- Minimal Travel: Travel is limited (likely once per year) to assist with satellite office issues when necessary.
Required Experience:
- Microsoft Azure: Extensive experience in managing Azure -based infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and security features.
- SharePoint Expertise: Hands-on experience with SharePoint for document management, collaboration, and migration. Strong SharePoint administration skills are essential.
- System Administration: Proficiency in Windows Server environments.
- Backup & Recovery: Experience with enterprise-level backup systems and disaster recovery planning.
- Scripting & Automation: Expertise in scripting languages for automating processes and improving system efficiency.
- Networking: Basic understanding of network management, including VPNs , firewalls , and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git or other version control software for tracking and managing code changes.
- System Performance Optimization: Experience with system performance monitoring, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to improve performance.
- Security & Compliance: Strong knowledge of security protocols, system patching, and user permissions to maintain compliance with internal policies.
- Project Management & Cloud Computing: Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud computing and familiarity with project management and application design/integration.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications (Plusses):
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technology , Computer Science , or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) , CompTIA Network+ , or Azure certifications are highly preferred.
- Experience with SharePoint Migration: Proven experience with SharePoint migration projects is a plus.
- Experience with Linux servers, particularly those running ERP systems is a plus.
