Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Piping Engineer for a contract role based in Calgary, AB, working with a prominent Oil & Gas producer in the region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping design, installation, and maintenance within industrial sectors, with a focus on field experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex projects for a key player in the Oil & Gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform piping design and engineering tasks for industrial projects with a focus on Oil & Gas facilities, ensuring adherence to applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Review and analyze piping layouts, systems, and specifications to identify and resolve any design, material, or installation issues.
- Provide technical support to construction teams in the field, ensuring piping systems are installed according to approved designs and specifications.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and vendors to ensure effective project execution.
- Perform field inspections to assess piping system installations, modifications, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, documentation, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure quality control and safety standards are adhered to during all stages of the project.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any piping system issues that arise during construction or post-installation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of prior field experience in piping engineering, with exposure to industrial environments (preferably Oil & Gas or petrochemical sectors).
- Strong understanding of piping design, material selection, and industry codes (ASME, ASME B31.3, etc.).
- Experience with AutoCAD, PDMS, or other piping design software is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a hands-on approach in the field.
- Ability to travel to and from job sites as required, and willingness to work on-site for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for licensure in Alberta.
- Experience in project management or coordination roles.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in the Oil & Gas sector.
