Position: Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Pay: $200,000 annually
Experience:
- 12 years as a practicing attorney in a law firm, banking regulatory agency or in-house law department.
- 5+ years within financial services and 4-6 in management.
Education:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.

Job Description:
- Develop Policies: Recommend, implement, and maintain policies to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance for the Credit Union and its affiliates.
- Legal Expertise: Serve as a resource for interpreting local, state, and federal laws, ensuring the organization operates within all legal frameworks.
- Strategic Leadership: Partner with the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel to design and execute short- and long-term legal strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Resolve Issues: Monitor and address legal disputes, oversee litigation, and respond to external requests, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Influence Decisions: Guide decision-making on compliance and regulatory matters critical to the organization’s strategic direction.
- Comprehensive Oversight: Manage all legal aspects, including contract reviews, licensing agreements, due diligence requests, and risk mitigation.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and evaluate the Legal Services team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Position Requirements:
- ACUA Certified Compliance Officer Designation (or obtained within two years of hire).
- Expertise in strategic planning, legal affairs, and contract negotiation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build partnerships and collaborate across teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in complex, team-oriented environments.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Occasional travel required.
