Salary/Compensation: $115,000-$122,000

Job Summary:

The role involves overseeing the execution of people-processes at designated locations, acting as the primary liaison for union-related activities. Responsibilities include staying updated on employment, wage, and hour laws in the assigned region and providing HR support in areas like employee relations, recruitment, staffing, compensation, employment law, compliance, benefits, organizational effectiveness, talent management, and training. This position works closely with corporate support teams to deliver high-quality people services and manage special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of HR Business Partner experience or progressive roles delivering results in similar industries.
  • Required union experience and proficiency in US labor and employment laws.
  • Experience with grievances, mediations, arbitrations, and union-related activities is required.
  • Preferred experience in hospitality, food service, or the airport industry.
  • Must be able to work independently and in cross-functional teams with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Must be eligible to travel up to 50% within the US, including overnight stays if necessary.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in US labor and employment laws and their application.
  • Direct and implement programs that support employee engagement, productivity, and company goals.
  • Support HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, payroll, and recordkeeping.
  • Develop and communicate internal staff updates and organizational initiatives.
  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints and employment practice concerns.
  • Ensure fairness and consistency in grievance and disciplinary policies.
  • Coach employees and managers on performance management and oversee performance reviews.
  • Participate in recruitment processes for hourly and management positions.
  • Drive hourly recruitment and orientation, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Review and revise succession plans and facilitate action plans based on the process.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to address lawsuits or complaints filed by outside agencies.
  • Oversee the performance of direct reports, assess their performance, and provide corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain high standards for data integrity, recordkeeping, and decision-making.
  • Take ownership of position responsibilities and strive to achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure proper employee records maintenance in compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Experience, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
  • 8 years of experience as an HR Business Partner or similar corporate position, with union experience required.
  • Proficiency in US labor and employment laws.
  • Experience handling grievances, mediations, arbitrations, and union activities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining focus and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle conflict, make sound decisions under pressure, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Positive attitude supporting the company's culture and fostering strong relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.

Physical Requirements and Environment:

  • The role requires mobility and the ability to work in a variety of environments, including office and operational locations.
  • The position is primarily remote, with up to 50% travel, including overnight stays.
  • Must meet airport security requirements, including TSA clearance and background checks.
  • Flexible scheduling is required, with potential for long hours, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
