Position Summary
Responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing robotics and automation engineering activities related to manufacturing support, process improvement, facilities layout, new program management, and engineering change coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and generate floor plans and process flow diagrams.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of robotics, special-purpose equipment, and fixtures—from purchase order to PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and production implementation.
- Provide engineering support to other departments as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Develop work schedules with interim targets for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with APQP Teams and Program Managers to create technical specifications for automation, robotics, assembly equipment, and automated check fixtures.
- Research and implement new technologies and continuous improvement initiatives in machining and assembly.
- Develop and execute plans for cost reduction and quality improvement.
- Maintain a proper filing system to ensure information is well-organized and easily accessible.
- Adhere to and enforce the guidelines in the Employee Handbook and Company policies.
- Fulfill responsibilities under IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient work environment by supporting 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws while representing the company or using company-provided equipment.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Work Experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Organized, self-motivated professional with strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) or related fields, including robotic MIG welding.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, basic measuring techniques, and CAD software (preferably AutoCAD or CADKEY).
- Familiarity with ANSI, SAE, and other industry standards.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, QFD, Design for Manufacturing, VE/VA, DOE, FMEA, DFMEA/PFMEA, and reliability engineering plans.
- Expertise in automotive manufacturing processes, synchronous manufacturing, SPC, 8D problem-solving, control plans, and continuous improvement techniques.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
Education and Certifications
- Engineering degree
- Welding certification or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- Completed robotics training for robotic MIG welding or related practical experience.
