Senior & Mid Software Engineer - Onsite, Irvine, CA. X 2 positions

A leading space technology company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build scalable systems that enable satellite operations, mission control, and interplanetary exploration.
This is a full-time, onsite role based in Irvine, CA , perfect for someone passionate about software engineering and space innovation.
Due to the sensitivity of the work, this position requires onsite presence five days a week.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
- Lead the full product development lifecycle, from concept to delivery, while setting the technical direction for the team.
- Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Architect and develop mission-critical software systems, including Mission Control Systems (MCS) and advanced tools for space operations.
- Build and maintain scalable APIs and tools that enhance operations for subsystems and external customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and improve software products for evolving mission needs.
- Drive discussions on architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure high-quality, secure, and scalable systems.
- Deliver automation tools and intuitive interfaces to simplify complex workflows for real-world operators.
What You’ll Need:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of software development experience with a track record of leading projects or teams.
- Expertise in full-stack development and designing, building, and testing complex systems.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Flexibility to be on call and work extended hours for mission-critical operations.
- Eligibility for Secret and/or TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Go , or Ruby
- Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript .
- Strong background in API development using Echo , FastAPI , Express , or Fastify .
- Expertise in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL ) for schema design, complex queries, and performance tuning.
- Advanced knowledge of React or similar front-end frameworks for building maintainable user interfaces.
- Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade systems.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with Kubernetes and AWS (EC2 , S3 , Batch , Lambda ).
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases like Couchbase , MongoDB , or Cassandra .
- Experience with data engineering and large-scale data pipelines.
- Passion for space exploration with involvement in the space industry or related fields.
