Job Title: Building Engineer
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Duration: 6 Months (with possible extension/conversion)
Payrate: $33/hr. to $38/hr.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Engineer to join our Administrative Services team. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day maintenance and operation of our facilities, ensuring optimal performance of building systems. Your work will be instrumental in maintaining a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Maintenance: Perform routine and preventative maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems.
- Construction Oversight: Monitor construction projects, manage facility vendors, and ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
- Repairs and Assembly: Conduct general carpentry tasks, such as building shelves, mounting TVs, and hanging pictures. Assemble and disassemble office furniture as needed.
- Facility Inspections: Conduct proactive building inspections to identify and resolve potential issues (e.g., leaks, broken lights, waste management).
- Vendor Coordination: Schedule and direct contractors for building repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Operational Adjustments: Make heating and air conditioning adjustments to ensure office comfort.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in a building engineer role, construction foreman position, or as a lead carpenter.
Skills:
- Proven experience with plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency with power tools and a basic understanding of building systems, including fire/life safety.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Excellent multitasking, problem-solving, and follow-through abilities.
- A team player with solid people and customer service skills.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Formal technical training or trade school certification required.
