GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Human Resources Manager is primarily responsible to develop, execute and manage the human resource function and strategy for the Scottsdale, AZ Home Office staff (approximately 160 employees), ensuring the delivery of best-in-class human resource service and support. Additional responsibilities include assisting the Director of Human Resources as needed with Home Office HR support of manufacturing & distribution locations (approximately 240 employees) in TX, IN, CA, FL and Canada.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
- Partners with Home Office leaders as their dedicated Human Resources subject matter expert. Gains a thorough understanding of the unique operational demands and goals of each department to allow for providing best-in-class Human Resources service and support.
- Maintains strong knowledge of employment-related state laws and regulations, in addition to federal employment law.
- Keeps up to date on all changes, both potential and finalized, making recommendations to Human Resources Director (HRD) regarding compliance and communication.
- Research current policies as assigned or as necessary to ensure compliance. Also assists HRD in the research and documentation of employment law issues and legal actions.
- Maintains thorough files on all Home Office employee relation matters, employment-related complaints, investigations, termination decisions, audits, research, special projects and other HR-related information.
- Develops and updates job descriptions as needed to ensure accuracy for recruiting, performance/compensation management, FLSA, ADA and other regulatory compliance.
- Provides coaching and guidance to employees regarding HR policy/procedure questions or employment-related concerns or claims.
- Conducts employment-related investigations from start to finish, ensuring proper investigation techniques are used, investigation is thoroughly documented, concerns/claims are resolved in a timely manner, escalating to HR leadership as necessary, outcome is effectively communicated, and appropriate follow-up is conducted to ensure continued compliance.
- Works closely with HR management team on employee issues that may involve FMLA, ADA or WC concerns.
- Develops and conducts employee and manager training at Home Office, ensuring all training requirements are met and tracked.
- Oversees the hiring process at Home Office. Recruits, screens, interviews and works with each hiring manager to ensure their staffing needs are met and guidance is provided where needed.
- Manages entire Home Office onboarding process including new hire orientation to ensure all new hire paperwork is completed thoroughly and timely including payroll forms, I-9’s and E-verification for all new hires. Works closely with HR Operations regarding form completion and location/department regarding proper orientation of employee.
EDUCATION AND/OREXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or closely related field, and/or current SHRM or HRCI HR Certification desired. Appropriate combination of experience and education will be considered. (SPHR or SHRM-SCP is preferred)
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in Human Resources, with at least5 years in a hands-on-senior-level Generalist, Business Partner or Manager capacity, with solid working knowledge of each functional area of human resources management.
- Experience supporting and leading the HR function for 100-200 employees in a corporate setting is strongly preferred.
- Solid training background is required, including ability to design, develop and deliver state-of-the-art onboarding and training programs.
