SUMMARY
This role is responsible for overseeing procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing purchasing strategies to support operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vendor negotiations, inventory management, and supply chain coordination, with experience handling both domestic and international suppliers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging, and MRO supplies to ensure seamless production and operations.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels for packaging and MRO supplies, balancing availability with cost efficiency.
- Address and resolve vendor-related issues, including order discrepancies, returns, and damages, in a timely manner.
- Lead and mentor the purchasing team, ensuring accountability in task execution, time management, and prioritization of purchasing needs.
- Provide training and career development opportunities to enhance team performance and expertise.
- Collaborate with the Planning team to align purchasing strategies with inventory requirements, improving supply chain effectiveness.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to secure favorable terms and reliable product sourcing.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to raw material procurement and supplier reliability.
- Keep Customer Service and the Supply Chain team informed of purchase order statuses through proactive communication and regular updates.
- Continuously assess and improve purchasing processes to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5–7 years of leadership experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
- Strong supplier and vendor management skills, with a focus on building and maintaining effective partnerships.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on key initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with MRP systems.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
