Downtown Streets Teams offers two programmatic modes - Streets Team Volunteer Program (STVP) is a zero-barrier-to-entry program that engages unhoused and at risk individuals in volunteer, community beautification projects while supporting them with case management, employment services, and basic needs assistance; Streets Team Enterprises (STE) is a workforce development, employment social enterprises that employs those who are currently or formerly homeless and/or justice impacted into entry-level opportunities and supports them with case management, employment coaching, and access to certifications and training with the goal of finding gainful employment after STE.
SUMMARY:The Operations Manager reports to the (Senior) Director of Programs or Executive Director and is responsible for the successful management and operation of all regional Streets Team Enterprises programs, including 3+ direct reporting staff which are local to specific programs. These programs are designed to help reduce Participant Employee's barriers to self-sufficiency through strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, while managing the staff, workflow and priorities in multiple projects and/or communities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: - Act as the direct supervisor to all (Sr.) Project Managers across Streets Team Enterprises' programmatic portfolio; provide weekly 1-1 supervision
- Provide meaningful and frequent job coaching/training to all direct reports to provide them with a deeper understanding of their role, address their needs, and encourage innovative ideas
- Through utilization of DST's Performance Management Tool, this position will perform competency reviews for direct reports and produce meaningful development plans to be used while coaching for growth and improvement
- Manage Streets Team Enterprises programs' successful daily operation, maintenance, and contractual compliance for existing - START SCC, SolTrans, Back2Work - and future programs as developed
- Participate in organization meetings such as, but not limited to - STE Weekly Operations, All-Hands, Partnership Meetings, Project Managers Meeting, etc.
- Maintain inventory system and/or routine maintenance of programmatic equipment, company assets, uniforms, and more; find cost-effective products or partnerships to manage the purchasing of STE's program supplies and maintenance costs
- Work with participant employees in the field, acting as both a supervisor and/or role model, for all duties / responsibilities they are required to perform
- In collaboration with the (Sr.) Director and Executive Director, develop and implement operational practices for emerging social enterprises business, including START SCC.
- Effectively communicate messaging, initiatives, and announcements including those established in organizational meetings
- Cultivate or maintain existing relationships and partnerships within Streets Team Enterprises programs
- In cooperation with community specific (Sr.) Project Managers, provide daily hands-on management of large work experience participant employees
- In cooperation with (Sr.) Director and Executive Director, maintain compliance with STE's budgets and contractual outcomes
- Provide necessary coverage in the absence of, or in support of local project management staff as well as the (Sr.) Director of Programs of Streets Team Enterprises
- Ensure all safety protocols and risk management practices are implemented in order to reduce workplace injuries and increase workplace safety
- All other duties assigned by STE's Director of Programs or Executive Director as requested
WHAT YOU'LL NEED: - HS Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated Project Management experience
- Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
- Excellent listening comprehension, written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method
- Cultural competence and literacy surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Proficient in Microsoft programs
- Valid CA Drivers License and reliable transportation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
- Using personal computer, keyboard, mouse and monitor
- Observation and problem solving; hearing, seeing, reasoning and decision making
- Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations for budgeting
- Ability to utilize hand tools and power tools for manual assembly, construction, and general labor
WORK ENVIRONMENT: - Moderate noise associated with an open office work environment.
- Up to 90% travel may be necessary
- Work environment and physical location may vary, depending on the space available and the needs of the community and the program.
