Job Description: Southampton County Public Schools is seeking an innovative and passionate
Inclusion Special Education Teacher to join our team at Carpron Elementary School. The Inclusion Special Education Teacher will provide instruction and support to students with disabilities in the general education classroom, collaborating with general education teachers to ensure that all students have access to the curriculum and can succeed in an inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that their unique needs are met in the general education setting.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify instructional materials and strategies, providing appropriate accommodations for students.
- Co-teach in the general education classroom, supporting differentiated instruction and inclusive practices.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data and individual student needs.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes acceptance, social interaction, and active participation for all students.
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and other staff members to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for success.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal special education laws and maintain accurate records of student performance and IEP goals.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in inclusive education.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Special Education, General Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an inclusive or co-teaching setting is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience co-teaching and providing inclusive support in a general education classroom.
- Familiarity with adaptive technologies and accommodations that support diverse learners.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting positive student behavior.
