Job Description

De Castro Foden LLC is hiring an Attorney to join our law firm in Hartford.


Responsibilities

Full representation of clients in immigration petitions before USCIS, EOIR, appeals tribunals (Board of Immigration Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Unit) and the Connecticut Probate Court (if admitted to CT) as related to Special Immigrant Juvenile petitions. Candidates with admission in the Federal District Court or Circuit Courts may also have opportunities to litigate in these Courts. The attorney will be empowered to have direct contact with clients and to begin litigating and working directly with clients with appropriate support and supervision depending on experience.


Qualifications

Candidate criteria:

  • Minimum 1 year of active experience in immigration law or family court. If you do not have this experience but would like to be considered for this position, please demonstrate your dedication and passion for immigration law through clinical or pro bono work, research or writing, advanced classes or internships. Candidates with significant experience (years of practice) in immigration law will be preferred;
  • Fluency in Spanish/Portuguese language;
  • Excellent writing, executive functioning, communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Connecticut bar admission or 5 years of admission in another state.

Compensation is consistent with higher-paid mid-size Connecticut firms and bonuses based on performance. Candidates with deeper experience will be compensated at a level commensurate with their knowledge and expertise. Full benefits are provided to employees, including health insurance, 401k, paid vacation plus sick/personal PTO, and federal and religious holidays, including our established tradition to close for paid leave holiday between Christmas and New Year.
